Airspace integration

  1. Detect and Avoid: Ensuring that the design, manufacture, installation, and operation of Detect and Avoid systems on the drone is compatible with the wider aviation ecosystem

  2. Beyond Visual Line Of Sight (BVLOS): Requirements for operations performed by the drone beyond the pilot’s own visual line of sight

  3. Remote Identification: Ensuring that all drones can be located remotely, and details of their owner can be quickly accessed so that airspace can be effectively managed

  4. Geo-fences: Standardising the format of “Geo-fences” - geographic areas over which a drone must take an action (including preventing a drone from crossing into the area)

  5. UTM: Requirements for the UTM industry (which may cover outsourced services such as flight planning, communications, separation, and weather, etc)

  6. Deconfliction: Ensuring that drone flight paths do not conflict with other aircraft or drones in order to reduce the risk of collision

  7. Electronic Conspicuity: Minimum requirements for technologies that transmit the position of the drone to other airspace users

  8. Airspace Management: A standard process for receiving notifications about aircraft traffic, and notifying others of your own position
